November 17, 2022

As someone who travels full-time, I’m always on the hunt for products that make traveling easier. At the same time, I’ve tried to reduce spending on unnecessary travel items, as I normally have limited luggage space to fit all my essentials while traveling. After a year of living abroad and traveling full-time, I’ve compiled a collection of the best travel products you need in 2023.

In this blog post, I share my top 20 favorite Amazon travel products. Use this list to help you find new travel gear for your own adventures or even to inspire gift ideas for the travel lover in your family!

Luggage Essentials

#1: Fingerprint Luggage Locks

Never worry about pickpocketing again with these fingerprint luggage locks. I formerly used key-lock luggage locks on my backpack and it became a hassle. I would worry about losing the key and it made opening my backpack more time-consuming. These modern-day luggage locks use fingerprint recognition technology to secure your items. Great to use when traveling through the airport or in busy tourist areas to prevent theft and pickpocketing!

#2: Apple AirTags

Apple AirTags have proven to have endless uses. These mini GPS tracking devices can be placed anywhere and tracked remotely through your phone. Travelers have begun to place them in their checked luggage while traveling. It can help prevent lost luggage and can give you peace of mind while traveling. Even if you can’t physically see your luggage, you can track its live location on your phone at anytime.

#3: Travel Backpack

My favorite travel backpack is by Brevite. It’s made of a thick, comfortable material and has multiple storage compartments. It has a laptop sleeve, camera slot, water bottle holder, and more. It’s fitted with (removable) dividers that help to organize your belongings when traveling. I’ve been using this backpack for about 1.5 years now and it’s accompanied me on all my world travels. I highly recommend this one – it’s worth the investment!

#4: Digital Luggage Scale

This one is pretty self-explanatory – but it’s saved me many times while traveling! This lightweight digital luggage scale is easy to throw in your bag and bring with you while traveling. It helps to avoid overweight luggage and saves the headache of re-packing or removing items at the airport luggage counter.

#5: Leather Luggage Tags

Luggage tags are a must for me when traveling. With so many suitcases looking the same nowadays, it’s important to differentiate your luggage from others’. These leather luggage tags are high quality and can be easily filled out and attached to your suitcase or backpack when traveling.

Tech Essentials

#6: Portable Wifi Hotspot

As a digital nomad, having a good wifi connection at all times is important to me. However, when traveling, consistent internet connection can be unpredictable. This is why I always bring a portable wifi hotspot router with me. You can purchase one with an SD card slot and then buy a local SIM card in the country you’re traveling to. You’ll be able to set up a plan and can purchase the amount of data you’ll need for your trip.

#7: Portable Phone Charger

You don’t realize how much you rely on your phone until you travel! Between taking photos and videos, using Google Maps, and looking up things to do in a new place, my phone battery suffers by mid-day when traveling. I never leave the house without my portable phone charger – this one from Anker is my personal favorite. It provides 2-3 full charges for my phone until it needs to be charged up again.

#8: Universal Outlet Adaptor

When traveling, something you can’t forget is an outlet adaptor! Prior to a trip, I always look up online the plug type used in each country. Many continents or regions share similar outlet types, however, chances are you’ll need an adaptor at some point when traveling internationally. This one is my favorite because it’s an all-in-one universal adaptor and has multiple slots for USB plugs as well.

Travel Organizers

#9: Luggage Packing Cubes

I didn’t start using travel packing cubes until last year, and I wish I hadn’t waited so long. Luggage packing cubes make traveling so much easier – from the beginning to the end of the trip. They help to organize clothing items when packing and can make it easier to fit more into your luggage. They also help while traveling to stay organized when living out of a suitcase. When coming home from a trip, it’s so much less stressful to have everything organized into cubes rather than messily shoved into the suitcase. I highly recommend these!

#10: Silicone Travel Bottles

One of the worst feelings when traveling is opening your suitcase to find that one of your liquids exploded all over the items in your luggage. Because of this, I always use silicone travel bottles. They’re reusable, washable, and of course leak-proof – which is the most important thing to me.

#11: Travel Jewelry Case

Prior to using a travel jewelry case, I used to store my jewelry items in a Ziplock bag when traveling. Everything would get so tangled together to the point where I couldn’t even wear half the jewelry I brought on the trip. I tend to bring just a few pieces with me when traveling, but keeping them safe and organized in a travel case is key! I love this jewelry case because it has multiple compartments to separate out each type of jewelry.

#12: Electronics Organizer

Similar to the jewelry travel case, the electronics organizer case helps to keep me sane while traveling. It’s difficult to keep track of all my electronics, cords, and chargers while on-the-go, so it’s helpful to have an organizer with everything in one designated place. This electronic storage organizer provides space for multiple items and helps to prevent plugs from tangling together.

#13: Hanging Toiletry Bag

This is one of my favorite travel items and I can’t live without it. This hanging travel toiletry bag is a lifesaver and it fits literally all my toiletries when traveling – from skincare to makeup to makeup brushes to hair products. Each compartment is leak-proof, so in the event that one liquid spills, it will be isolated to that one compartment. Don’t let the picture fool you – its collapsible design helps to keep everything compact when traveling but it’s so much bigger than it looks!

#14: Travel Shoe Bags

Shoe bags are another necessity for me when traveling. I formerly stored shoes when traveling in random plastic bags and it didn’t protect them well. These travel shoe bags have been a lifesaver as they keep my shoes separate from clothes and other travel items. They even have a see-through window so you can quickly identify your different shoes when traveling.

Miscellaneous Travel Gear

#15: Foldable Laptop Stand

For the longest time I was on the hunt for a travel laptop stand. Most of the laptop lap desks are bulky and heavy – not ideal for travel! Collapsible or foldable laptop stands are so compact and lightweight and can easily be added to a backpack or suitcase when traveling. It makes the process of working on-the-go so much easier, which I love.

#16: Passport Case

This one is pretty self-explanatory but if you aren’t using a passport case yet you need to! I love keeping my passport in a protective case as it protects your information and keeps it safe. This one also has space to hold other documents such as vaccine cards, money, or visas. The case makes it easy to pull out any needed documents when traveling at the various immigration desks and security checkpoints.

#17: Foldable Travel Makeup Mirror

Honestly, it’s the worst when you get to your hotel or accommodation when traveling to find that the bathroom has horrible lighting. Or to realize on a group trip that the hotel’s one and only mirror is in the bathroom – which you won’t want to occupy by doing your makeup! I love bringing a travel makeup mirror with me on trips because it provides the perfect lighting to apply my makeup and get ready for the day. It’s compact and lightweight enough to throw in my carry-on suitcase.

#18: Travel Journal

This one isn’t necessarily a “travel essential” but I never go on a trip without my travel journal! I started doing this about two years ago and can’t wait to look back on all the notes and memories I’ve jotted down from my various trips. I typically write in my travel journal either en-route to my destination or while on a long train ride, and always when heading home! It helps me to document my journeys and adventures and will be a nice keep-sake to look back on later on.

#19: Water Bottle

I always keep a water bottle with me in my backpack when traveling. This is helpful while at the airport, on the plane, or even when exploring day-to-day in a new country. This one keeps my water cold for hours and keeps me hydrated throughout the day.

#20: Travel Neck Pillow

If you’ll be taking a long flight or train ride on your trip, don’t forget to pack a travel neck pillow! These pillows have been a lifesaver for me both while on a lengthy train ride and when stuck in the middle seat on an overnight flight. This one is comfortable and soft and can be clipped right to your backpack or suitcase when traveling.
